When the town of Reston was founded in 1964, only 11.4 percent of men and 6.7 percent of women went on to receive a college degree, but there were still plenty of jobs for those who did not. The same is not true for today. Further education or training is essential, yet soaring costs leave many lower-income Reston graduates behind.

Each year the Reston Scholarship Fund (RSF) sends up to 10 qualifying, graduating South Lakes seniors to college. Scholarships averaging $4,000 per year are awarded based a number of criteria.

All scholarships may be renewed for up to four years as long as the criteria are met, which means we could be giving financial aid to 40 deserving students every year.

The RSF is asking Reston Corporations and individuals to join a growing list of donors in investing in the future of our community. Your tax deductible will help us reach our goal.
